Ever wonder who the real Jesus is? I think kids do. They see pictures that look different…just look at these six! They hear lots of stories about him. Color pictures of him. Watch cartoons and and even movies about him. They know the answers: Jesus loves me; I can pray to Jesus; Jesus is God’s Son. But do they really know him?
During Lent, FaithWorks! will introduce the kids to the Jesus described by Paul in Philippians 2:5-11. They will learn that he was faithful, that he was fully God and fully man, that he was humble, that he was obedient, he is our Lord, and that he will not leave us alone. Our hope is that by taking a close look at who Jesus really is, that they will take a step in their young faith journey. We want them to know him so well that they want to call him their Best Friend forever.
These next eight weeks will be rich and full. My prayer will be that this time be a priority for your family and that your kids will not miss a week. They will be keeping a “Portrait of Jesus” journal throughout these weeks and hopefully see for themselves that they are learning something more about who Jesus is to them.
And may the portrait of Jesus the kids envision in their mind, no matter what he “looks like” to them, morph into a family portrait…which includes Jesus with his arm around them! See you Sunday!
