From the time your child is born until they finish high school, you have 940 weekends with them. If your child is in kindergarten, you have 637 left. If your child is in third grade, you have 468 left. If your child is in fifth grade, you have 364 left.*
You get where I’m going. Time flies. And we recognize that at FaithWorks!
We realize that we only have 576 Sundays with your child from the time they are born until they head into youth ministry. And we want to make sure every one of them counts. We also realize that you then, have 576 weeks with your child during that same time.
Starting Sunday, we will introduce a new curriculum for our elementary children. We are excited about this because it is created by the same group that writes our preschool curriculum and it is designed for us (parents & church) to work together!
You may hear the word “orange” a lot soon. “Orange” is unique. It is created. It is a joint effort of red and yellow. Red symbolizes the home, or the heartbeat of the family. And yellow symbolizes the light of God, shining through the church. Together, we create orange: a partnership built on the common goal of raising kids to have a faith that works. And by that I mean, an opportunity for a child to choose a faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Every Sunday, your child’s experience at FaithWorks! will point them toward knowing:
Preschoolers – God made me, God loves me, and Jesus wants to be my Friend forever (foundational for developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ);
Elementary kids – I can trust God no matter what, I need to make the wise choice, and I should treat others the way I want to be treated (actually living out what Jesus modeled in Luke 2:52).
And every Sunday, you will receive a “Parent Cue” that will give you simple ways to continue talking at home about what your child is learning in FaithWorks! Click here to see what it looks like: Parent Cue Primer.
Your elementary child (1st – 5th grade) will also come home with a “God Time” plan. This gives your child ways to connect with God during the week. Four plans, for any four days in the week, include a Bible verse to read, something to know/learn about God, how to apply this to their life, and how to talk to God about it. You can see an example of one here: God Time Primer.
I look forward to seeing you and your child on Sunday! This will be the first of 52 weeks that we have together this year. And I think you’ll agree with me when I say that every one of them counts. I hope you’ll take advantage of the two resources I just mentioned to really make these 52 weeks make a difference in the faith journey of your child…and not just 52 Sundays. Let’s do this together.
A faith journey is forever,
